The Ultimate Time With K1 D’Ultimate

Head down to Indigo, at The O2 in London on 6th May 2023 & enjoy a night of soulful Fuji music by Nigerian superstar, K1 De Ultimate!

K1 De Ultimate helped to popularise this genre, which was created by Ayinde Barristar back in the early 60s. Fuji is a popular Yoruba musical genre, which was adapted from wéré music, a style of music performed for the purpose of ‘waking up’ Muslim-Nigerians during Ramadan, just before breaking their fast.

Fuji music, despite taking elements from wéré music, became a successful genre in its own right, viewed as a socio-cultural movement after Nigerian Independence and one of the most popular indigenous musical sounds of Nigeria.

Fuji music, up-tempo and uplifting, commonly has vocals to match, with instruments such as the Dundun (talking drum), Sekere, Maracas and Agogô played by the band.

K1 De Ultimate took a liking to music when he was around 8 years old and whilst growing up, was constantly winning singing competitions. After continuing to pursue this interest, he ended up in Ayinde’s band titled The Supreme Fuji Commanders. After a few years, he decided to release his own album, titled Iba, ’80 and then created his most successful album, Talazo ‘84. He has since been making more music, performing live in various spots around the world & winning awards.

So, get ready for K1 De Ultimate’s performance in London, giving you music that speaks to the soul! No matter your age or background, his music will be bound to get you dancing.
