Description

Africa has, arguably, played the biggest part in music’s evolution. Had the African diaspora not existed, who knows whether the genres that have revolutionised and era defined would be blasting through our speakers today.
Inspired by the innovation and aspirational movement of British music over the past year, we take a closer look at this emergence and the fusion of genres that map our current musical landscape; microscoping on their African influence - whether they are fully aware or not.
Mostly this is a celebration... Just as Fela Kuti hosted The Shrine - we will open our doors to those who rejoice and celebrate Africa’s culture, music and artistry; and of course its global influence. We have chosen to host what will become an historic event, in an historic venue - The Jazz Cafe. Camden has and will most probably always be one of the most diverse and multicultural towns in the world. It’s fusion of cultures has also led it to be one of the most profoundly creative areas too, offering live music venues and spaces for creativity to be nurtured and evolve. Not to mention Jazz being one of the most commonly known genres influenced by the African Diaspora.

With 808 Charmer controlling production whilst gracing tracks with both raps and vocals, Mumblez primarily fronts this duo with raw and experimental rap techniques bringing a very organic vibe. 808INK are not to be solely boxed into the Hip-Hop genre, as the level of influence within their musicality cannot be denied.

of the most eclectic and soulful releases of this year.

Cisee Djamba
Cisse Djamba are a collective of hand picked musicans from the UK African Music scene lead
by master percussionist Khalifa Conte performing music from their first Album Dakar 2 London. Dakar
2 London is 10-track album of Contemporary and Traditional West African Percussion composed by

disadvantage to prove what levels can be achieved with raw rhythm and determination.
