Word on the Street is back!
The freshest in spoken word and hip hop night, where you can take part, watch headliners, sit down and have delcious food and drink while you watch the show. Also a great space for creatives to network and collaborate, with music from our live DJ, DJ Shorty bringing you hip hop , rnb and neo soul!

REBEL SIMPSON- CYCLES EP LAUNCH
a very special set from South London MC, a lyricist and deep thinker, this past co host of the night has released a vibsey EP thats had people talking about the content from single parenthood, love and mental health. He will be doing his debut performance of the EP live mixed with spoken word.

BRIDGET MINAMORE
Bridget Minamore is a writer from and based in south-east London, who has written with the National Theatre’s New Views programme and the Royal Opera House. As a poet she has read her work both nationally and internationally, from Cheltenham Lit Fest and the Southbank Centre, to literary festivals in Rome, Vancouver, and Kraków.

She has been commissioned by Historic England, the Tate Modern, Nike, and ESPN, and in 2013 was shortlisted to be London’s first Young Poet Laureate. In 2015 she was chosen as one of The Hospital Club’s Emerging Creatives, as well as one of Speaking Volumes’ 40 Stars of Black British Literature. Having placed third in the Roundhouse Poetry Slam in 2009, in 2017 she became the youngest person, and first woman, to be the lead tutor for the Roundhouse Poetry Collective.

Hosted by Shay D, a prolific female MC who has just released an album and curated the first ever all female hip hop tour in the UK.
DJ Shorty on the decks. Resident DJ, part of the Chip Shop Brixton family who has a show on Chuck D's Rapstation radio, a scratch DJ, old skool veteran on the skills, will be playing you the best in chilled hip hop.

Poetry open mic is from 7pm sign up on the door. Acapella performances only.
The Rap cypher is an open mic where the dj plays beats and anyone can take the mic and rap along.
