The Shoobs Team headed down to the London Mayor's Thames Festival on 10th & 11th September and had an amazing time! Check out our video highlights here.
Anyone miss the old skool?! Well if that's you, then you should of been at Club Colosseum on 3rd September to witness the Uk Garage and Jungle greats at the night Flashback. So Solid Crew's Megaman, Asher D and Lisa Mafia sent the crowd crazy with their explosive UK Garage Set! Whilst an exclusive power hour set by Jungle legends Skibadee, Shabba and Jumping Jack Frost made sure extreme dancing was the order of the night!
Despite the chaos that dominated the start of August, the Carnival weekend parties ensured the month ended on a high note!
The Shoobs team ventured down to Proud 2, in London to check out the City Love Havanna party.
From the spectular on-stage performances, the lavish club decor and incredible Djs, this party felt more like an exclusive event where everyone is treated to a VIP experience.

Slowly but surely Boyband-mania has been fighting to regain ground recently with the success of JLS, The Wanted…to name a few.To top it all off R n’ B favourites Dru Hill have decided to get in on the game and are gracing us UK fans with their presence with a one night only concert on 24th October down at the O2.
Have you ever woken up after a night out, sick, knowing that you really shouldn’t have eaten that dodgy kebab, or the manky burger? Maybe you should have just gone home and rooted through the fridge, and ended the night there? There is a solution. Below is a list of top five late night and even 24 hour bars and restaurants that are aimed to feed up hungry clubbers. My favourite is Tinseltown in Clerkenwell.
Take a look and realise that there is more to life than having that attractive streak of grease down your chin.
International sounds have been known to collide and blare from the doorway of London’s vibrant club scene. However, this year, there is one influence which is not getting lost in the rush. It is of course African music. African music has become the success story on London’s music scene, it has torn through this city like wildfire and we cannot get enough of it! It has become clear that African music is invading the usual bass mix by being incorporated in new and exciting ways to create fascinating sub-genres like South Africa’s Kwaito music inspiring UK Funky tunes. Cultural music as a whole has been on the rise here in the UK and this can be seen in their dominance on Shoobs’ events list this month!
Across the city there are numerous clubs which offer African flavoured nights, but my favourite one has to be the monthly Bantu Fridays event, held on the first Friday of the month at London’s Parker McMillan club. Here, you can move your feet to the latest RnB and Hip Hop tunes but also wine down low to a good dose of contemporary African music, making Bantu Fridays a truly unique ‘Afrowestern’ event. With such a wide mix of tunes there is definitely something for everyone! Bantu Fridays are different, not just because they offer a unique blend of genres for your dancing pleasure, but because they do their best to offer you a truly authentic experience. Whether they’re giving out free amarula drinks, introducing new tracks like Dinzy’s ‘bwembera sikulabye’ or making you dress up in colours from the African continent, you can rest assured that this will be a night like no other.
It's what we've been waiting for...Bank Holiday Carnival Weekend is
finally here! It's nearly the end of August and what a month it has
been! To get you into the party mood, listen to our special Carnival Mixtape mixed by DJ Sharma and Hosted by MC Scandal! Check it out here!
Ever since its beginnings, the Notting Hill Carnival has always gone above and beyond simply marking the end of a summer of fun and entertainment- it is nothing less than the most vibrant and exciting event of the year. Attracting nearly one million people from around the world, the carnival is the largest street festival in Europe. Originally created as a way for people to celebrate their West Indian and Caribbean traditions within the UK, the festival has expanded to incorporate every culture under the sun, creating a vibrant buzz, clash and combination of sounds, sights and smells that can be found nowhere else in the world. Known for its floats with extraordinary costumes, food stalls from all around the globe, and sounds ranging from traditional to contemporary, as long as you love people, parties and music, Notting Hill Carnival is the place to be.
For people who genuinely love music, reality TV music shows is the source of more than one frustration. “They audition thousands of people and that’s the best they can do?!†my family has understandably cried out more than once. “Where is all the talent in the UK?â€
The season of carnivals, festivals and parties in the summer sun is now upon us! Britain, well-known for its diverse community gives plenty of opportunity for everyone to celebrate each other’s cultures. Whether you head to the Richmond Riverside Festival to dance to obscure genres such as Gypsy Punk or to the Imperial Wharf Jazz festival to brush up on your swinging jazz beats you can be sure that London will continue to be the main hub for all these cultural celebrations.
African and Caribbean influences have been on the rise on the London scene, the Notting Hill Carnival for example is one of the biggest Caribbean celebrations in the world second only to Rio de Janeiro. Carnivals and festivals are all about celebrating one’s individuality, a country’s pride and history and so it comes as no surprise that World Promotion UK will be hosting an event to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day.
Jamaican Independence Day was in actual fact last week! But because Jamaicans love to party hard the celebrations are a week long; just long enough for them to show Britain what they’ve got to offer! So to celebrate this special day in style, this Saturday we’ll be heading to the Heritage Banqueting Suit where a night of music and entertainment will be provided by world renowned DJ David Rodigan and the number 1 female DJ in the UK, Lady Lyrical. Shoobs has kept a keen eye on these upcoming events so you can grab your ticket for this exclusive event here.
Party the summer away with parades, festivities and cultural music!
Summer is finally here in England and what better way to celebrate than with attending the hottest events in town such as Rhyme and Reason Live’s (R&RL) Hip Hop for Unity Showcase. Set at the HMV Forum Kentish Town it will be headlined by American underground hip hop legend Dead Prez.
This event promises to shock, amaze and edutain you. Dead Prez will be supported by a line up of top UK artists including Sway, MC Akala and MC Skinnyman. These talented individuals have chosen to join Rhyme and Reason Live in their effort to promote unity and positivity against the increased violence of youth culture prominent in today’s society.
Dead Prez own blend of edutainment (education and entertainment) ensures a breath of fresh air for the hip hop scene, breaking away from mainstream repetitive beats frequented in the charts. R&RL’s Hip Hop for Unity Showcase ensures an authentic taste of urban entertainment made for the people by the people. Rest assured that you will witness a thoroughly entertaining night full of memorably performances and vibrant acapella freestyles. Tickets here
