The summer is here and for many, the culmination of the festivities is Notting Hill Carnival. While it is certainly Europe’s largest Street Festival, Carnival has long and deep roots in the history and culture of Afrikan people throughout the diaspora. This Rise of the Griots goes DEEP into the history of Carnival, its music, its dance, its costume design and the spiritual, cultural & political signs and symbols therein.
