Funmbi’s friendly, instantly likeable style won him the award for Best Newcomer at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards. He has since gone on to win the prestigious Leicester Square New Act of the Year competition in 2012; shortly after becoming joint winner of Amused Moose’s Laugh Off Competition in the same year. Gently paced stories and anecdotes are delivered warmly and confidently.
He was a finalist in the Brighton Comedy Festival Squawker award and the Laughing Horse competition.

He has performed on The John Bishop Show, and appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! NOW! in November 2015,breaking down the day's action from I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! alongside Joe Swash.

Jay Handley made furniture until he found out comedy was a viable profession. Since then he has made entirely no furniture but he has made audiences up and down the UK laugh a lot. His comedy adventure has seen him perform at legendary venues such as the Glees, The Stands, The Comedy Store, Jongleurs and more. It has also taken him to the Edinburgh Fringe festival 5 times and saw him return in 2017 with 'Hansplaining'
