The Groove Association ft Georgie B

Georgie B (AKA George Bromfield) has been singing, entertaining, writing and producing within the music industry for the past 35 years, starting with the hit 80’s jazz funk band Second Image and more recently as a solo artist with the Groove Association.

After leaving Second Image in the late 80’s, Georgie B continued to work tirelessly within the music industry, working and sharing the stage with many distinguished artists such as Womack & Womack, Jean Carne, MAZE (featuring Frankie Beverly), Reel 2 Reel, Phil Fearon, The Weather Girls, Rod Temperton (writer of the Michael Jackson classics ‘Thriller’ & ‘Rock With You’), Paul Weller, Shut up & Dance (co-writing & singing tracks on their ‘Black Men United’ album), Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, Winston Reedy and many more. Plus a plethora of live and studio session gigs/performances around the globe.

His latest solo record, ‘3AM’ was released March 2014 to rave reviews and features 15 new tracks of jazz funk heaven! Produced by ex-Second Image singer/drummer Weston Foster it is the best Georgie B work to date!! The album also features UK singing sensation Deborah Bell who has enjoyed great success with her debut EP ‘Close Your Eyes’. Deborah will be appearing as a special guest on the night, singing not only her classics from The Groove Association album but also tracks from her hit EP

While there is no machinery that can recapture what made the 70’s and 80’s such important era’s in Black music, by embracing the echoes of the past there is an emotion which can still be re-created, the essence or ‘magic’ of an old school feeling, harmonising the world, one sweet melody at a time. So, on St George’s Day (23rd April 2015), the Jazz Cafe will be the meeting place for all those who love their old skool soul music, love to sing……..and more importantly, love to dance!
