Horace Brown is a musical force to be reckoned with. Born in Hartford Connecticut, Horace was discovered by legendary R&B artist/producer DeVante Swing from the group Jodeci. As a result of working with DeVante on music for other artists, Uptown Record’s Founder and CEO, Andre Harrell, signed him to the label at a time when it was home to artists such as Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D, Father MC and Christopher Williams.
Horace’s debut release on Uptown Records was the risqué hit single ‘Taste Your Love’ that was quickly followed by the highly sought after bootleg ‘Friday Night’. The following summer Andre Harrell had departed Uptown Records to head up the world famous Motown Records and his first signing was Horace who went on to release his now infamous self titled album, that spawned the UK Top 10 hit single ‘One For The Money’, ‘Things We Do For Love’ featuring Jay-Z and the slow jam classics ‘Why, Why, Why’, ‘I Like’ and ‘How Can We Stop’ featuring Faith Evans. This led to Horace writing and producing for US superstar artists like Donell Jones, Christopher Williams, Silk and many more.
For the first time ever Horace will be performing at The Jazz Cafe (London) with full live band. Showcasing his hit singles and songs from his first two albums with support from top London DJ’s that include Matt White & Nicky Smood (Mi-Soul), DJ Skinz (Catch A Groove) and Steve Running Man (My Club). With Horace’s blend of sensual R&B, Hip Hop beats and smooth vocal delivery the 26th July promises to be a night of class, good vibes and reminiscing the golden era of 90’s R&B.
