The Beatnuts
Support from Spin Doctor
It is very rare for group to lay claim to helping to build the foundational blocks of a genre, let alone a genre as popular and successful as Hip-Hop, but The Beatnuts are one of them.
Consisting of duo JuJu and Pyscho Les, they're the only Latino-descended duo in the legendary "Native Tongues Collective" which boasts members such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Mos Def; therefore-The Beatnuts are certainly in good company. Like the aforementioned groups, they have enjoyed significant commercial success, perhaps most notably with their single "Off the Books" which featured Big Pun and charted in the Billboard top 100.
Fiercely funky, their distinct style of Jazz tinged, floor filling bangers have always have an indie feel and a crate diggers feel. From the school of rapper / producers they are 100% Hip-Hop and create an unmatched energy on stage.
