Hailing from Queens, Troy 'Pharoahe Monch' Jamerson is one of the most respected and intelligent figures in the underground rap scene.
We're delighted to be celebrating the 16th anniversary of his first show here at The Jazz Cafe back in 2001.
Monch rose to prominance in the '90s as part of the duo Organized Konfusion whose self-produced albums were well received by critics. After recording his final album with Prince Po in 1997, he started writing and performing under his own name and in '99 released his critically acclaimed album Internal Affairs - the first single of which was the massive 'Simon Says'.
Soon after his first album was released, Pharoahe played the first of many shows here at The Jazz Cafe, often returning to showcase his intricate flow, intelligence and his new material; which recently has bravely touched on his personal demons, addiction and effects of violence in his community.
As such 'Simon Says' it's time to welcome Pharoahe Monch and Special Guests back to the UK - for a very much anticipated show!
