WORD on the STREET DOC BROWN & POETIC PILG

After 6 events we outgrew our lovely spot into a bigger cosy space so WORD on the STREET has a NEW HOME with AN UNBELIEVABLE LINE UP for 2nd March!

We started WORD ON THE STREET as we wanted SPOKEN WORD POETRY TO MEET HIP HOP and it was missing from the London scene!! This will be our 7th event and they have all been amazing!! We love fresh bars and bringing people together!

HEADLINERS:
DOC BROWN
Beginning life as underground rapper Doc Brown, Ben Bailey Smith has diversified profoundly, moving into mainstream TV and Film acting, stand up, screen writing and children’s books. He has a host of notable television performances under his belt including a starring role in ITV’s Law & Order, C4’s The Inbetweeners and Derek, BBC thriller Hunted, BBC comedies Rev, Miranda, Russell Howard’s Good News, Live at the Apollo and ITV’s Midsomer Murders, and is highly regarded for his ongoing work with Ricky Gervais.
In 2017 Smith recorded an hour-long stand up special for the BBC due to be aired in Feb/March.
He has also announced a comeback to music, returning to his roots to release an album, Stemma, his first in over a decade, accompanied by a highly anticipated tour in March and April.

POETIC PILGRIMAGE
Poetic Pilgrimage is a female Hip Hop and Spoken Word duo who express the world as they see it through the art of rhyme. They are a rare act, being one of the few Muslim female outfits around and they bring a refreshing perspective to issues of identity, global politics and women’s issues inspired by their faith and legacy of their ancestors.

Speakeasy chill hop vibes so you don't have to shout over your beautiful candlelit meal and meet like minded peeps!

Kingpin & Shay D host the infamous open mic open to all! Sign up on arrival and share your words and spit your bars!

Hip Hop Ed Book Club runs from 6-730pm with Poetcurious & Darren Chetty discussing social and hip hop related texts that you can join in on.
