London based Cozy Mag have started something special. With a fervent focus on championing the cities up and coming acts, artists, DJs and photographers, it's rapidly becoming a one-stop shop for finding out who to put on your radar.
On January 26th, they start 2017 at the Jazz Cafe, and bring along r&b/soul singer Joyce Wrice, fresh from releasing her new project via Stones Throw. Playing her first ever UK show for the night, this is the start of something big.
Yasmin
Yasmin, a singer-songwriter and DJ first found fame in 2010 featuring on Devlin’s single ‘Runaway’. Fast forward, and she has DJ’ed around the world for N.E.R.D, Taio Cruz and Eve, hosted her own stage at Wireless and played storming sets at Glastonbury and Ibiza Rocks. Yasmin didn’t stop there, with a regular Rinse FM show, and a weekly dj residency at XOYO called ‘Monday Monday’ operating a strict feel-good-only music policy. She just got off tour with Breakbot in South American tour, with plenty more to come in then new year.
Hannah Faith
Faith’s online success has lead to many opportunities, from being featured on Channel 4, Solange Knowles’ Saint Heron, iD Magazine, Clash Magazine, NME & HighSnobiety - to playing across Europe and the US, most notably alongside Swizz Beats in Berlin, and opening for acts such as Willow and Jaden Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Just Blaze and SZA to name a few. Having recently wrapped filming for an upcoming documentary with Red Bull Music Academy, and playing her second year at Afropunk, Faith continues to create her sets with the same passion that drove her to begin learning how to DJ. She recently toured Asia, the US and Dubai as a headline act.
Louis VI
Following the release of his highly acclaimed EP, For an artist who is just starting out, he is already making waves. Described by Noisey as having 'hints of Isaiah Rashad and the bubbling lilts of Thundercat, [Louis VI] tonally sits in the new school of progressive hip-hop.' It didn't stop there, with Complex saying he’s an artist 'without many comparisons’.
ItsNate
Frontman of London Collective SLOCAL, rapper It’s Nate has consistently brought the fire. Having just supported Skepta at this year’s Sole DXB in Dubai, and being cited by Danny Brown as one of his favourite UK MC's, ItsNate is living it up in London's recent hip hop resurgence, releasing projects alongside esteemed producers such as Darq E Freaker.
