In 1979 Hip-Hop made the jump from block party to vinyl and that landmark record shot to no.1 around the world scoring the first international rap hit and giving the globe it’s first glimpse of what was happening in NYC.
That record was The Sugarhill Gang’s ‘Rappers Delight’. Undoubtedly one of the most influential records of all time it has been covered and quoted by many and still sets dance-floors alight around the world. Voted the second greatest Hip-Hop song of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine it is still the benchmark that any Hip-Hop single is compared to today.
Performing this and many of their other classics at what is one of the most exciting live shows ever are the Godfathers of Rap so make sure you do not miss this little piece of history.
