Word on the Street is London's infmaous spoken word and hip hop event. It merges the genres by booking a poet and a rapper to headline, with established names across the UK.
The night warms up with DJ Shorty on the decks playing your favourite RnB, Neo Soul & Hip Hop joints. Then we have open mic for all, where the audience can share their bars! Following is the headliners back to back, and trust me we always make sure we have the best lyricists on our stage.
To wrap up the night we have a rap cypher, inviting all MCs to spit on the mic to instrumentals.
The night is hosted by UK female Hip Hop artist and poet Shay D & one of the best emerging rappers, Rebel Simpson.
Its a really dope place to network with a lot of creatives and positive people to connect with!
The night has breaks and we serve food and drink till late. Boondocks food is BUFF, from chicken waffles, burgers, and shakes! (veggie options available too)
The venue is just a few minutes walk from Old Street station.
