Chester P is well respected and a pioneer of the UK Hip Hop scene. A founding member of Task Force, M.U.D Family and Bury Crew, Chester P made his name with 'Music From The Corner' in the late 90s, and continued displaying his astounding abilities through the ’00s to today. Well known for being outspoken and speaking up on topics many artists stay silent on, we look forward to hearing his perspective on Mental Health.

Five Word Freestyle Trial

Hosted by the man himself, the five word freestyle trial is an original freestyle concept where six MCs battle it out in a number of rounds culminating in the final.

In each round, five different words will be called out by the audience, each contestant will have to use these words in their freestyle. Who will come out on top!?!

There will be a £50 cash prize for the winner!!

***IMPORTANT INFO***

1. There are only 6 places available for the five word freestyle trial

2. Application does not guarantee entry to the event

3. If you want to catch the show please book tickets to avoid disappointment!

4. If you're an MC who loves to freestyle and is up to the challenge then please email your name and an example of your work to mindmatterldn@hotmail.com to apply for a spot.

5. The deadline for applications is Sunday 22nd April @ 8pm

6. The 6 successful applicants will then be contacted and announced before the event.

The open mic is hosted by our partner, Miss Yankey. Founder of Poetry Prescribed.

Open Mic Guidelines:

1. Acappella only
2. One piece or a maximum of three minutes
3. State name, then piece

The Grey Dog Festival

At every event we promote a mental health organisation to raise awareness and funds for their work. This event will be our second fundraiser for The Grey Dog Festival.

The Grey Dog has been set up with the aim of tackling stigma attached to mental illness and opening up the conversation amoungst young people.

The first part of their strategy is to put on a free entry music festival.

Mind Over Matter have been kindly offered a stage at the festival to be held in Northampton on Saturday 25th August, this year.

All money raised from tickets sales from this event will be going towards our target of £1000 of which we've already raised £330. Anything raised over our £1000 target will go directly to The Grey Dog Trust to help them reach their target of £20,000 to help make this important festival a reality.
