Harnessing all of the disparate musical and social trends of the late 60s, Sly & The Family Stone created a wild, brilliant fusion of soul, rock, r&b, psychedelia and funk that broke boundaries down without a second thought.
Led by Sly Stone, The Family Stone was comprised of men and women of different races, making the band the first fully integrated group in rock’s history. That integration shone through in the music, creating a new sound unlike anything ever heard before.
The Family Stone’s current formation boasts three founding members, including saxophonist Jerry Martini, the catalyst for their formation back in hippy San Francisco. With a host of hits to pick from, the group play the songs as they are meant to be heard; full of soul, funk and feeling.
