One of the west coast’s OG hip-hop groups, People Under The Stairs have remained staunchly DIY and to this day still boast one of the strongest underground followings in the scene, thanks to classic records like O.S.T. and The Next Step.
Since their inception, the group has consisted solely of Christopher Portugal (Thes One) and Michael Turner, employing an old school DIY authenticity of sampling, MCing, DJing, and producing all of their output. Having last played London back in 2012, it’s with eager anticipation that we welcome them to the Jazz Cafe stage.
