ABOUT THE ACT:
Boisdale of Canary Wharf is proud to present a series of four spectacular performances by “Luciano & Friends Live and Unplugged” (3rd to 6th September 2018). The Grammy- Nominated Reggae Superstar Luciano aka "The Messenjah" is a prolific songwriter, an accomplished musician, outstanding baritone singer and a bearer of an authentic style of reggae, which is consistently praised for imparting sentiments of spiritual salvation.

His first solid mark on the UK charts was with a cover of Cheryl Lynn’s R & B hit “Shake it Up Tonight”, which got to #1 position. Shortly after the founder of Island Records Chris Blackwell (known for representing signing artists from Bob Marley to U2) took note and signed him to the now-defunct Island/Mango record label. This resulted in the 1995 recording of ‘Where There is Life’ which swept across the world producing a string of number 1 hits such as: “It’s Me Again Jah”, “Lord Give Me Strength”, “Your World and Mine” and “Who Could It Be”.

In 1997 Island Records released the second album ‘Messenger’, which was voted amongst the 30 Greatest Reggae Albums of All Time by Mojo magazine. This album was praised for “turning its back on smutty ‘slackness’ for an album of elevated soul-reggae balminess”.

Taking place at Boisdale of Canary Wharf’s restaurant & music venue and featuring some of Luciano’s special guests from various musical genres, the evening will be a feast for the eyes, ears and the palate with guests treated to a show from “It’s Me Again Jah” singer, and a delicious 3-course dinner included.

Luciano’s residency coincides with the long-awaited May 2018 release of the new title song and eponymous album ‘In The Name Of Love’ which spreads positivity and optimism at a time when the world wholeheartedly needs a message of this nature. With mounting political and economic pressure, this poignant and beautiful piece of work is a genuine force for change and a message of goodwill to all humanity.

The new album is released on Mountain Peak Records, a new label recently launched by Luciano and his manager/producer, Anthony Cargill. The essence of Luciano’s inimitable talent shines vividly through each track, which also represents some of his very best work to date. The reviews for this album have been so positive that it’s been placed on the same level and in some cases, said to have surpassed that of both albums released by Island Records. The sentiments within the songs are universally relatable; they are a rallying call for unity in a divided world and destined to spread happiness across the globe.
