After selling out the Jazz Cafe in 2016, pioneering dub poet, writer, social commentator and music maker Benjamin Zephaniah makes a triumphant return to our stage. Having teamed up with renowned producer and engineer The Sea (Toots & The Maytals, Rodney P, Massive Attack, The Wailers, Buju Banton), Zephaniah created the incredibly timely album, Revolutionary Minds. As a body of work it tackles the indigestible topic of the world we live in today, political and economic corruption, global warming, rampant racism, fascist patriarchy… unfortunately we could go on and on.
As a live entity, the five strong Revolutionary Minds expertly provide rich, upbeat, hypnotic dub rhythms behind Benjamin’s beloved vocal and lyrical mastery. Amid this chaos through Revolutionary Minds, both band and album, are the soundtrack for the modern revolutionist; it will make you feel empowered, hopeful, galvanised to make a difference and make you dance; it’s a dub thing.
