To celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band, one of Britain’s most-loved afro bands, Osibisa, will return to the Jazz Cafe in January with a special one off show that celebrates the musical and cultural phenomenon of highlife.
A genre that originated in the early 20th century, highlife is characterised by jazzy horns, multiple guitars and an uptempo, synth-driven sound, and has been a common feature in the work of seminal artists like Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas and, of course, Osibisa.
