"Let's Talk" 10th Birthday - Discussion Event

Can you believe it?!? An entire decade!!!!

In December 2009, 'Mikey' and 'Hey Essay' joined forces to put on the first ever 'Let's Talk...' at Bar 19:20 in Farringdon.

Their goal was simple, to provide a platform where opinionated Black Londoners could discuss, debate and reason over a number of topics ranging from Race to Politics.

Over the last decade, we've hosted 100 of topics with 1000s of passionate debaters and in that time, we've seen a great deal of friendships and relationships form. A few marriages and babies too.

Join us as we revisit some of the classic (and controversial) questions that have sparked some of the most memorable conversations and moments over the last 10 years.
It will be a special night for us and we'd love to have you attend.

Topics on the night"
- Was it justifiable for Vue & Showcase cinemas to remove the 'Blue Story' movie from all their cinemas?
- Would you be upset if your friend proposed to their partner at your wedding?
- Tamar Braxton's rant about men being secretly gay if they don't attempt to touch their girlfriends after a period of time

Admission:

£5 After
£3 if registered on shoobs & eventbrite.

The event will be split in to two halves;

First Half: 7pm - 8:45pm
The topics and questions (above) in the 1st half will be set by "Let's Talk". The hosts will ask the audience questions based on a topical issue or event and invite members to answer or share their opinions on the matter. The discussion will managed by the hosts with the mics. We operate a 'hand up, talk up' system. Those who put their hands up will be given an opportunity to speak. The hosts will ensure that the rest of the room remain silent and respectful.

Second Half: 9pm - 10:30pm
The topics and questions in the 2nd half will be set by you; the audience. We invite members of the audience to anonymously submit topics and questions they want discussed/answered respectively. Traditionaly, this is where things get really interesting. We've had questions about everything from private situations to ideas born out of vivid imagination. You never know what is on someone's mind.

Throughout the night, we will also throw in ice breakers to encourage networking and social interactivity.

About Let's Talk
Originally part of the "Let's Events" brand, Let's Talk is an open forum discussion and debate evening event that is now approaching it's 7th year. We started off as a monthly event where we invited passionate and opinionated to discuss various topical issues as well answer age old questions such as 'What would you do if...' etc. No topic is taboo at "Let's Talk" and we have discussed everything from Religon to Sex, Education to Media, Music to Relationships etc.

Over the years, we've also seen invited special guests from the world of TV, Law, News and Education in providing us with valuable insight to help us delve further in to conversation.
